Developing tomorrow’s leaders through student-led journeys
Our Leadership Expeditions are transformative journeys that offer much more than the average school trip.
These 2 – 4 week adventures take students through awe-inspiring destinations, providing opportunities for deep cultural immersion, breathtaking treks and meaningful service work.
Student-led, our Expeditions empower students to make their voice heard. Students take ownership of their experience from start to finish, planning their itineraries and making real-time decisions on the ground. This hands-on approach helps students develop leadership and life skills, as well as promoting active citizenship, in ways that traditional classroom settings struggle to replicate.

What’s involved?
Core elements of an Expedition
Community service project
A thoroughly researched, sustainable and hands-on service project forms the central part of the Expedition. During this component, students work directly with a local community to support initiatives such as helping to build or renovate school buildings, improve the infrastructure around the community (like building a well or a bridge) or laying the foundation for a greenhouse or vegetable garden. Our service projects are aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Challenging trek
Experience the natural beauty of your destination with an inspiring trek through local terrain! Whether it be the mountain tops of Nepal or the rainforests of Costa Rica, you’re bound to discover some of the most breathtaking places on earth. We aim to push your boundaries while still ensuring the trek is achievable for all team members.
Adventure style travel
Unlike the typical school tour or family holiday, students will have the chance to actually plan their itinerary and make the trip their own. Travelling backpacker style, they will explore the sights, experience the local culture and have the adventure of their lives!

What do students gain?
Infuse Leadership Expeditions go beyond traditional education, offering real-world experiences that cultivate essential life skills.
By leading their own journeys, students learn to navigate challenges and make decisions independently.
Facing new and diverse situations requires students to think on their feet and solve problems creatively.
Each student takes on various leadership roles, managing budgets, coordinating logistics and supporting their peers.
Without smartphones, students learn to live in the moment, fostering mindfulness and deeper connections with their environment and team.
Through hands-on service projects, students contribute to sustainable community development, gaining a sense of global citizenship and social responsibility.
Promoting global citizenship education and helping learners understand the world around them while working together towards a common goal.
100%
These experiences are not just transformative but are also highly recommended by parents. 100% of parents whose child travelled with Infuse would recommend the program to others.

Pre-departure
program
The journey begins well before departure. Our comprehensive pre-departure program ensures students are fully prepared for their Expedition, setting schools and students up for success.
Extensive pre-departure planning and Resources
Over 12 - 24 months, students and teachers engage in detailed planning and preparation with their Infuse Trip Coordinator via multiple school meetings and workshops. We’ll work with students, parents and teachers to ensure everyone is prepped and ready to go.
Team Building at School
Interactive workshops and activities help build team chemistry and leadership skills. Students will work with their Infuse Group Coordinator to plan their trip and learn about sustainable travel.
Fundraising ideas and Support
Students participate in fundraising efforts and research to understand the communities they will serve and the regions they will explore. Fundraising can go towards trip costs and/or community service projects.
Pre-Departure Training
When curating your program, our Group Travel Coordinator will discuss a pre-departure training program that best suits your team. It may involve preparation workshops at school, a one-day teambuilding adventure, or an overnight camp
Meet the Leader before you go
A professional and experienced Program Leader will be assigned to each school team prior to departure. Students will meet their Leader at the training camp - not overseas like many other travel organisations - which enables rapport and confidence to be developed between students and leaders.
And We're Off!
Once prepared, students depart with their Infuse Expedition Leader and accompanying teachers, meeting local leaders at their destination. Throughout the expedition, they rotate through various roles, enhancing their leadership, planning and logistical skills.

The typical Expedition runs between 2 - 4 weeks. The duration of the Expedition depends on the destination and outcomes of the school. This will be determined in the pre-departure planning.
Expeditions run year-round. Infuse can run Expeditions during the school term or in the school holidays. The timing of the Expedition will be determined between Infuse and the school during the pre-departure phase of the program. Seasonal factors and local knowledge will impact the destinations suggested to the school.
What better way to build leadership and communication skills than planning the trip themselves? Students, alongside their Group Travel Manager, will plan core elements of the itinerary such as the trek and the community service project they want to contribute to in the pre-departure phase of the Leadership Expedition Program.
Once on the ground, students will be provided with a list of pre-approved activities and accommodations. Students will then be responsible for arranging transport, booking and managing the budget for all accommodation and activities in consultation with their Expedition Leaders.
Typically, a Leadership Expedition includes a trek, is a longer program on the ground and includes a more detailed pre-departure program (such as a training camp) when compared to our Service Learning Adventures. On Expedition, students are part of the planning and itinerary creation process, and also take active leadership roles once on the ground.
An Infuse Leadership Expedition is more than your typical school trip and we prepare well in advance to ensure a successful adventure. Below is a quick overview of the typical Expedition inclusions:
- Pre-departure learning program
- Administrative and planning support for the school
- Student and parent information evenings
- Training camp and equipment nights

The group will meet your Australian Expedition Leader during the pre-departure training phase of the program at the training weekend. Your international Expedition Leader will also join to run a session or two remotely via ZOOM.
Trek’s are designed to be challenging, but achievable! Students will choose their specific trek during the pre-departure phase. Students do not need to be athletes, but a base fitness level is required. Infuse will help to set training fitness programs and will run a mock trek for the group prior to departure.
Service projects vary from destination to destination and are always the highlight of our Leadership Expeditions. All our projects provide direct support for education, infrastructure development, conservation and other community development, and are designed in consultation with community leaders, as well as aligned with the UN Goals for Sustainable Development. Infuse Travel has developed long-term partnerships that address high-priority community needs. Check out our wide range of programs here.
During the pre-departure phase Infuse will provide fundraising workshops and materials to allow students to contribute towards paying for their Expedition. Infuse finds that when students take an active contribution towards paying for their overseas program that the outcomes of the program are greatly increased.
Depending on the destination country a visa and/or vaccinations will be required. Infuse will provide visa information for the group pre-departure and will point the group in the right direction for all of their travel vaccination queries. We are travel experts but we aren’t doctors so we can’t give specific medical advice for travellers. We recommend you speak to a travel doctor, or your GP, for advice about vaccinations for the specific country you will be travelling to. A passport with 6 month validity passed the return date will be needed for each traveller.
As a leader in the industry, Infuse Travel takes the health and safety of our students extremely seriously.
