Anglesea Coastal Camp

Your outdoor leadership adventure begins! This morning you will be transported by bus to Angahook Holiday Camp, located near the township of Aireys Inlet. Upon arrival, you will set up and settle into your tents and participate in an orientation to the outdoor education camp. Play some team games and get to know your Infuse Program Leaders. This evening, get your competitive juices flowing in a spirited game of trivia.

After a hearty breakfast at camp, you will head off-site for a day of adventure and outdoor leadership activities. The activities are designed to help students develop their teamwork skills, make new friendships and challenge themselves to step outside of their comfort zone.

First, you will participate in a surf lesson at Anglesea. During your lesson, you will learn paddling, standing up, dropping into waves and riding across them. You can expect to stand up and ride your first wave in the first lesson!

In the afternoon, the water-based activities continue with a stand-up paddleboarding session. You will learn the correct techniques from a local guide, mastering the water throughout the session.

Back at the campsite, Infuse Program Leaders will run music, craft and team-building activities – engaging and challenging you along the way.

This evening, gather around the campfire, roast some marshmallows and enjoy staring at the stars.

The adventures continue today! Test out your bravery and your outdoor leadership skills as you and your friends take turns on the Giant Swing. With the help of your classmates, journey to new heights before you are set to soar through the sky onboard Angahook’s Giant Swing.

Keep the adrenaline pumping as you take a bus to the Anglesea MTB trails where you will put your two wheels to the dirt and ride down bush paths that offer both a challenge and an amazing encounter with nature.

Once the bike riding is done, it is time to relax! Journey with your Program Leader to a nearby beach where you can kick your feet up, swim in the waves, or test your creative skills by making a sandcastle.

After a packing session with your experienced Program Leader, it is on to the bus and off to the start of your overnight hike!

Starting at the world-famous Bells Beach, venture to the inland sheltered forest of the Ironbark Basin in the Great Otway National Park. Tramp past grasstrees and search for hidden treasures like rare orchids, echidnas and reptiles. Learn more about the traditional Aboriginal lifestyle and behold spectacular views from one of three Point Addis lookouts.

Reach Point Addis and kick off those shoes to let some sand between your toes as you walk to the end of the beach, where you will re-join the Surf Coast Walk and continue to your camp, Eumeralla Bush Camp.

Wake up in your cosy tents, pop your head out to the colourful sky and prepare for the remainder of your short hike. This rugged trail takes in all the colours of the coast – vivid ochre cliffs, brilliant blue ocean and dappled green heathland. See kangaroos, wallabies and spring wildflowers amongst low, wind-stunted forest.

Once you reach Anglesea, a bus will be there to pick you up as you journey back to Angahook Holiday Camp as you celebrate completing your first overnight hike and this adventurous outdoor education camp! Well done!
