Upon arrival, you’ll head to our main base in rural Momi Bay and settle in. Then, enjoy a tropical breakfast before an orientation to the international service learning tour to help you learn about the culture of Fiji and what to expect on your big adventure.

After your orientation, your group will head to beautiful Natadola Beach for a few hours. This will be an opportunity to swim and relax on the beach as you settle into the relaxed South Pacific lifestyle.

After the beach, you’ll head back to our base for the evening. Participate in a formal sevusevu ceremony after dinner and begin learning the intricacies of Fijiian cultural practices. Wearing your new sulu, get to know the local staff over a bowl of kava.

During part of your international service learning tour, you’ll be staying at our South Pacific Base. This base was purpose-built for students undertaking educational trips to Fiji. Students will stay in dormitory rooms that sleep 8 to 10 on bunk beds, separated by gender. Each unit has an attached bathroom with solar-powered hot water showers, sinks and flushing toilets. The campus also offers a pool and both indoor and outdoor social spaces. Breakfast and dinner will be on-site, family or buffet style, prepared by our chef. Overnight: Infuse Travel Base, Momi Bay

Dive into your next 5 days of service work and cultural immersion on this international service learning tour. Infuse has developed a wonderful relationship with the local people of Momi Bay and the larger Nadi area. You will contribute to service projects developed in partnership with community leaders and addressing community-sourced needs and development opportunities.

You will also get to explore the best the greater Nadi area has to offer in terms of cultural activities and excursions, learn how to create local handicrafts, cook food and play in the stunning Fijian landscape.

The following is an example of how your days will be organised on this part of your educational trip in Fiji. The exact order of activities over these 3 days may vary based on community availability and weather.

Sigatoka Sand Dunes, Clay Workshop and Fijian Culture
After breakfast at the base, head to Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park. Enjoy a 2-hour hike through the enormous dunes, with plenty of opportunity to jump and slide in the mountains of sand. Learn about the history of this area and help rangers with reforestation efforts by planting native species in the park.

Have lunch back at the base and some time to shower and relax. In the afternoon, meet with a local women's crafting group. Learn about traditional clay work and make your own clay creation, which will be ready for you to carry home at the end of the week.

After dinner this evening, relax with your local program leaders and learn about Fiji's language, culture, history and people.

Village Service, Hot Springs and Storytelling
This morning you will be introduced to one of Infuse Travel’s primary infrastructure service projects in the area. Conceived in partnership with the leaders of Bavu Village, you will partner with local builders to support the UN Sustainable Development Goal to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all residents.

In our partnership with Bavu Village, we are helping the community construct toilets at each house in the village. This project has been ongoing for several years. During your morning in Bavu Village, you may excavate, lay blocks, mix cement, or do other skill-appropriate carpentry tasks.

Wrap your day back at the base with dinner, a bonfire and Fijian cultural storytelling.

Pineapple Farming, Cooking Lesson and Meke
Today is an exciting day on your international service learning tour. This day is all about learning from (and helping out) our neighbouring communities.

In the morning, meet with one of our neighbours to learn about his pineapple farm, then roll up your sleeves and help out. Depending on the season, this may include harvesting, planting, weeding, watering, or turning over fields. During your time at the farm, you’ll have an opportunity to hear how and why pineapple came to be grown in Fiji and the process of harvesting crops and selling them to market.

Spend your afternoon learning to cook Indian and Indo-Fijian dishes commonly enjoyed along the coast of Viti Levu Island. Your teacher, Shalini, will welcome you into her home and teach you the colonial history of Fiji and about the resulting Indian community she is a part of, all while teaching you to make some of the best food around.

When you’re done cooking, pack the food up and bring it into Nadi town, where you will deliver meals to a shelter for vulnerable women and children. Infuse’s programs in Fiji have been supporting this shelter for many years and today’s activities are always a highlight of the international service learning trip.

Back at the base tonight, get to see meke, a traditional form of storytelling in Fiji rooted in song and dance.

Income Generating Traditional Workshops and Kid’s Club After-School Program
Enjoy the warm welcome into the village with a “sevusevu” kava ceremony. Present your “sevusevu” gift to the village elders during a formal kava ceremony and request permission to enter the village in the traditional way. Spend time learning about a way of life that still holds strongly to the traditions and customs of past generations. You’ll spend the day on your educational trip to Fiji getting to know the locals and helping with an ongoing service project within the village before returning to your base for the evening.

Participate in traditional craft workshops learning from the women of Nabila village. Later, you’ll lead an afterschool program for the children in the village facilitating games, activities and arts and crafts. It will be a day you'll never forget, full of laughter and learning!

Overnight: Infuse Travel Base, Momi Bay

It’s time to take to the seas! Board a ferry and take a 4-hour boat ride through the breathtaking Yasawa Islands.

For the next few days, you’ll call one of these tropical islands home and explore the white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters and lush surrounding hills. Live with generated electricity and sleep on cots in large safari tents only a few yards from the ocean. Enjoy a kava ceremony with the locals from Somosomo Village who will make you feel at home under the bright constellations of the southern hemisphere.

Overnight: Infuse Travel Tent Base, Naviti Island

Embrace Fijian island life by scuba diving, snorkelling, kayaking and hiking around the beautiful island of Naviti. On this part of the international service learning trip, you’ll study the ridge-to-reef ecosystem while working on grassroots projects that focus on the diversity, formation, ecology and conservation of the coral reef and surrounding environment.

Interact with the local community by participating in a variety of daily activities such as the traditional Fijian dance called meke and learning the craft of mat weaving from the village women. Explore and contribute to projects throughout the village and neighbouring marine reserve established near your island home. In the evenings, your group will debrief, discussing the different approaches to sustainability that you experienced through hands-on work in the community on this educational tour in Fiji.

Overnight: Infuse Travel Island Base, Naviti Island

Go on a final morning adventure and visit with your new Fijian friends before saying farewell to the Yasawa Islands and journey back to Nadi. Enjoy some of Fiji’s best pizza in town before returning to your main base this evening.

Overnight: Infuse Travel Base, Momi Bay

Prepare yourself for a morning of rejuvenation as you head to a nearby hot springs. Lather yourselves in nutrient-rich mud as the Fijians have been doing for generations, then rinse off and relax in a series of peaceful, natural hot pools as you take in views of the surrounding mountains.

After the hot springs, spend time exploring Nadi and shopping for souvenirs for your family and friends. Enjoy your final meal in Fiji with a view of the sunset before leaving for the airport. Your Infuse Program Leaders will take you to the airport for your departure as you say goodbyes and reflect on what you’ve learned and achieved on your educational tour in Fiji.

"A wonderful experience in every way! Truly life-changing for my child. Thank you to Infuse Travel for taking such good care of the group and providing an exceptional experience."
