Infuse Program Leaders will welcome you upon arrival in Brisbane. Transfer to your accommodation in the Glass House Mountains, settle in and then join an orientation session for this school group tour with your Program Leaders.
This afternoon we will take a short hike up to the top of a mountain for magnificent 360-degree views of the Glass House Mountains, surrounding farmland, hills and coastline. Watch the sunset behind the hills and hear stories of the area’s Aboriginal history. Tonight, we’ll eat dinner together and prepare ourselves for our week of service ahead.
Overnight: Infuse Basehouse, Glasshouse MountainsAfter breakfast, depart for a hike to remember! Kondalilla Falls (meaning ‘rushing waters’ in the local Aboriginal Language), is an iconic 90-metre waterfall surrounded by lush subtropical rainforest. This unique landscape was created by volcanoes and carved out by water over roughly 28 million years. Hike to the top of the falls and behold the famous rock pools and view the 90-metre cascade from the bottom.
In the afternoon, will have the opportunity to engage with a member from the local Gubbi Gubbi Aboriginal community. This will be your chance to learn about the traditional owners of this land and hear stories of the area. You will also be able to learn about some bush tucker and traditional medicine used today.
Overnight: Infuse Basehouse, Glasshouse MountainsYou’ll spend this morning on this school group tour with our community partner, The Shack, which supports marginalised members of the community such as those experiencing homelessness. Learn about their charity, then cook meals in their commercial kitchen to stock their freezers.
This afternoon, assist at a basketball coaching clinic for special needs athletes. Assist the coach and athletes with their training drills and participate in a game to foster positive relationships between young people with special needs and mainstream students.
Relax and unwind this evening, enjoy a pizza party with your group and share memories from the day.
Overnight: Infuse Basehouse, Glasshouse MountainsThis morning on this school group tour, we will make our way to Australia Zoo to connect with their education team. First, you’ll participate in a workshop to learn about wildlife conservation and how Australia Zoo contributes to global projects. Then, eat lunch whilst watching the famous Wildlife Warriors Show and see first-hand the passion and enthusiasm the crew at the zoo bring to the job. In the afternoon, visit the wildlife hospital to begin developing your knowledge and gaining skills in caring for wildlife.
Overnight: Infuse Basehouse, Glasshouse MountainsThis morning we will support a local community group with environmental service projects on the Sunshine Coast. Projects may include tree planting, sand dune restoration, removal of invasive species, or beach clean-ups.
This afternoon, step out of your comfort zone and take on the Treetop Adventure Park. Problem-solve your way through this aerial obstacle course and finish with a zip line through the forest and over a lake!
Overnight: Infuse Basehouse, Glasshouse MountainsAfter a big breakfast this morning, grab your beach towel and togs and head down to the beach in Coolum for a surf lesson. Taught by expert surf coaches, students will learn about ocean safety and try their hand at carving up some waves!
In the afternoon, head to the famous Noosa Beach and National Park and enjoy wandering along Hastings Street browsing stores and tasting ice cream. Finish with a coastal walk where you can see surfers in their element and dolphins jumping in the ocean.
Overnight: Infuse Basehouse, Glasshouse MountainsThis morning, discuss and reflect on your experiences from this school group tour during our Infuse Ties closing ceremony.
Afterwards, say goodbye to the Glasshouse Mountains and return to Brisbane Airport. This is where you and your Program Leaders will part ways, say farewell and make your way back home. We hope you have loved your time in South East Queensland!
