Depart for Laos with your teachers and meet your Infuse Program Leaders on arrival in Vientiane. Your itinerary today will depend on flight schedules. Once you’ve arrived, transfer to your hotel, freshen up and then head out for a delicious Laotian dinner.

During the evening, your Program Leaders will run an orientation session about your program to help you become more familiar with your new environment.

Today we start with a visit to a small organic farm where you will learn about mushroom farming and make your own pottery souvenir! Clean the clay from your hands and prepare an organic farm-to-plate lunch.

After lunch, head to the COPE Visitor Centre to learn about Laos’ history as the most bombed country in the world and how unexploded ordnance still poses a risk to rural communities today. Finish the day with an evening stroll along the Mekong riverfront.

Rise early and travel by minivan through rice fields and mountain roads until you reach the hidden elephant sanctuary. Settle into your jungle bungalows before heading into the national park to observe some of the local elephant population roaming freely through the forest.

Spend the evening playing camp games and learning about elephant conservation in Laos – a country once known as the ‘land of a million elephants.’

Wake to the sounds of the jungle and then trek back into the forest for more elephant observation. Spend the day conducting service activities to support the ongoing success of the elephant sanctuary or learn some new weaving skills with local artisans.

In the evening return to see the elephants again before cooking some delicious Khao Lam!

Start the day with an early visit to a local village to learn about rice farming. After breakfast, you will spend the day conducting more service activities to support community-based ecotourism at the elephant sanctuary.

Finish your time in the jungle with one last trek to see the elephants and a game of pétanque. Your hosts will prepare a special farewell to bring luck for the rest of your journey ahead.

Say goodbye to the elephant sanctuary and travel by minivan to the spectacular karst landscapes of Vang Vieng. Arriving in the afternoon, you will take a leisurely stroll or bicycle ride through sleepy streets along the Nam Song River.

Today you will take a short train trip to reach the UNESCO World Heritage city of Luang Prabang. Have lunch amongst the city’s ancient temples and French colonial architecture.

In the afternoon visit the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre to learn about Laos’ incredible ethnic diversity, then finish the day with a hike up Phou Si Hill to watch the sunset.

Rise early to the sound of the gong, summoning the monks to their daily morning prayer before they collect alms. Then, kayak to Tad Sae Waterfall for a refreshing swim and snack before continuing down the river.

Close out the day with a special Laotian dance performance by a group of local women, who will also teach you a few moves.

Head to the stunning Kuang Si Falls to take a refreshing dip in its bright blue pools, or hike to the top for panoramic views across the Luang Prabang Valley. Later, sit down with local teens and university students to learn about their lives and swap stories as you help them improve their English fluency.

Spend your final night unwinding with a traditional Lao massage and a reflective discussion about your time in Laos.

All adventures must come to an end and today is the last day of your Laos school trip. After one last French baguette and Lao coffee, head to the airport for your departing flight. You’ll no doubt leave with many amazing memories!
