Your Program Leaders will be waiting to greet you at the airport and will take you to our base house to get settled in and oriented to your Laos school trip.
Today on your Laos school trip, you’re going to get to know Luang Prabang and Laotian culture. First, sit down with local teens and university students to learn about their lives and swap stories as you help them improve their English fluency through practice with a native speaker.
Then, bike through the side streets and back roads of Luang Prabang, stopping at temples, small shops, the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Center and the UXO Lao Visitors Center.
Today our Laos school trip leaves the city and heads to the countryside. As we travel outside the capital, be sure to look out the window as the landscape is truly breathtaking!
We’ll venture into the countryside to a Khmu hill tribe community to complete some overseas student volunteer work. The exact nature of the work you will do will depend on community needs at the time, but past projects have included improving village infrastructure, building a primary school and improving water access.
Another day of overseas student volunteer work! You’ll work on your project as a team, which includes locals who want to assist with the project.
Afterward, relax with your new friends, play games, start collecting your memories in a journal and settle into northern Laos living.
Leave the village for a scenic 3-hour hike through the surrounding countryside, passing small villages, farmland and lush rice fields, before reaching the stunning Kuang Si Falls. Take a refreshing dip in the bright blue pools or hike to the top for panoramic views across the Luang Prabang Valley.
Later, unwind with a traditional Lao massage, then return to the base for another delicious Lao-style dinner and reflective discussion on the day’s experiences on the Laos school trip.
Rise early to the sound of the gong, summoning the monks to their daily morning prayer before they offer alms. Then, kayak to Tad Sae Waterfall for a refreshing swim and snack before continuing down the river.
Close out your Laos school trip with a special Laotian dance performance by a group of local women, who will also teach you a few moves.
All adventures must come to an end and today is the last day of your Laos school trip. After one last French baguette and Lao coffee, head to the airport for your departing flight. You’ll no doubt leave with many amazing memories of your time in Laos!
