Infuse Program Leaders will meet you at school this morning with our 57-seater coaches. After a warm welcome, it’s time to hit the road! On our first leg of this school excursion, we’re off to Mildura.

Once we arrive, we will sit down for an orientation, set some goals for this educational travel tour and practice setting up camp.

Today we will be crossing the border on our way to Almerta Station in South Australia! It’s sure to be another big day of driving, so bring your snacks, Spotify playlists and card games as we continue our school excursion road trip. Our Infuse Program Leaders will also facilitate games along the way, so your time on the coach will fly by!

Almerta Station offers some of the most picturesque scenery in the Flinders Rangers, and with over 8,000 sheep on the property, you’ll be sure to immerse yourself in farm life!

Enjoy a cooked brekkie and a morning stroll around the property before taking a short drive in the coach to the Flinders Ranges National Park.

Take in the crisp air while hiking a saddle track with your crew and find some of the most spectacular views in the park. Learn local knowledge from your Infuse Program Leaders as you hike along the mountain, playing games and singing songs.

Wind down in the afternoon with hot drinks around the fire as you settle in for your first night of camping!

Wake up this morning in the forests of the Flinders Ranges to the sounds of birds chirping and the presence of kangaroos during breakfast. From the forest to the outback, today we will see the everchanging Australian landscape as we head to the Gammon Ranges on this school excursion.

On Adnyamathanha Country, be welcomed by locals, experience an ochre ceremony and learn about the meanings behind the colour and pattern use of the rocks. Explore hidden rock art sites, interpreted by your Adnyamathanha guide. Share cultural experiences and learn about past and contemporary society in the area, before singing local songs under the stars!

Today we will be heading off to William Creek. Shuffle your seats around, pump the music louder and enjoy our next leg of the road trip on this educational travel tour. Today we will pit stop at one of Australia’s largest inland lakes, Lake Eyre, which also happens to be the largest salt lake in the country.

This afternoon, we will hit William Creek and experience Australia’s desolate side - there are only about 10 permanent residents here! Known for its mining and location next door to the world's largest cattle ranch, it’s definitely worth keeping an eye out for.

Tonight’s location is one of the oldest and most iconic hotels in outback Australia. Finish the night with a movie under the stars.

Wake up to the first of many sunrises on the red sands, pack up camp and get back in the buses as today we make our way towards Coober Pedy. One of Australia’s most iconic towns, Coober Pedy is known for its opal mining and underground lifestyle. On this education travel tour, we will have the opportunity to experience what it’s like to live underground for the night!

Once we arrive in Coober Pedy, we will head underground to the Umoona Mine where we learn about the opal mining industry and the history behind it.

After lunch, we’re back on the buses and will be taken out to the Quest Mines where we will be fossicking for our own opals.. it could be your lucky day!

You’ll discover the importance of these underground rooms as you wake up feeling refreshed and cool in the morning.

Today is the longest day on the road for this school excursion, but will be the most rewarding as we head on up to the most anticipated destination of the trip, iconic Uluru!

This morning we will be heading into the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park to take in the sights and sounds of the Australian outback.

Visit the Cultural Centre to learn about the Anangu people, then walk around the base of Uluru with a local guide who will teach us about what life was like before European arrival. Don’t forget your wallet as there are some of the most beautiful locally-crafted dot paintings and other artworks for sale!

Finish the day with light snacks and drinks at the Uluru sunset viewpoint. We guarantee this will be one of the most memorable sunsets you will ever see.

Today you’ll start this educational travel tour with a sunrise camel ride! Take in the beauty of the outback landscape as it changes colour with the sunrise. Then, hop off the camel for a delicious breakfast prepared by the local camel guides.

Spend the rest of the day walking through the Valley of the Winds in Kata Tjuta, another rock formation famous for its spectacular domes. The sunset here can be as equally impressive as at Uluru itself!

This morning we’ll be taking things easy. An easier wake-up and relaxed breakfast will have us feeling good for the drive to Kings Creek Station.

Get welcomed by camels, horses, dogs and maybe even a dingo or 2 if you keep your eyes peeled. Here we will set up camp for the next 2 nights, nestled within one of the best spots for sunsets, sunrises and stars. Make sure you get a great night's sleep, so you’re ready for the big hike at Kings Canyon tomorrow!

After a hearty breakfast this morning, it’s time to hike around the rim of Kings Canyon, a truly magnificent part of Australia. Be sure to stop and take in the scenery – outback views don’t get much better than this!

This afternoon you’ll participate in a cultural workshop with a local Aboriginal family. Try some bush tucker, hear Dreamtime stories and learn about traditional hunting and gathering on this land.

Afterwards, there’ll be an opportunity for a Q&A discussion to engage more personally and deepen your understanding of Aboriginal Australia. Make your way back to camp for a (camel!) burger, some hot chocolate and marshmallows around the campfire.

Today we’ll travel to Alice Springs, the last stop of our educational travel tour together!

Upon arrival, visit a wildlife sanctuary and learn about the conservation and research being done across Central Australia. Along with an array of Aussie animals, you’ll also learn about local plants and their uses in Arrernte Country. This afternoon, settle into your cabins before exploring the capital of the outback!

This morning you will wake up ready for your last day of hiking and adventure on the school excursion! But what a day to finish on – Ormiston Gorge! With breathtaking views, cool calm rivers and good company, this short and enjoyable hike will leave you feeling satisfied for your last day. After hanging by the gorge, head back into town for a final dinner out with your crew. It’s time to celebrate everything we have done on this educational travel tour!

As we come to an end we like to think, reflect and share memories of the trip that has been. At Infuse we finish our programs by allowing students to reflect on their experiences and the issues they engaged with and talk about how to apply this new understanding to their own worlds. During or after their closing discussion, groups participate in Infuse Ties, a unique and powerful activity that allows students to capture the memories and learning moments of their program to process and share with their communities back home.

Today will be full of fond farewells as you fly back to Melbourne and say goodbye to your Aussie guides and the golden land of Central Australia. We hope you have enjoyed your journey through Central Australia and wish you a safe journey home!
