Once you’ve got situated, you’ll come together for a group orientation and begin preparations for your backcountry adventure tomorrow. Work together tonight to cook dinner and then get a good night’s rest, because you have a big journey tomorrow.
Overnight: Bunk rooms, QueenstownThis morning you will pack up and head out from Queenstown and begin your adventure towards Snow Farm, where you’ll spend the next few days on your student tour abroad.
Spend time with expert instructors who will guide you through the essential skills and techniques of cross-country skiing to get you ready for the adventure ahead. From the base, you'll hit the trails, skiing your way to the cozy backcountry hut that will be your home for the next 2 nights on this student tour abroad. Once there, you and your team will get familiar with the hut, settle in, relax for a bit and enjoy cooking dinner together.
Overnight: Snow Farm NZ Backcountry Hut, CardronaToday your team will decide which trail they would like to complete, based on the skill levels that you all discovered on yesterday’s adventure on this New Zealand student trip.
After a full morning of adventures, head back to the hut to warm up and have some lunch. This afternoon you will be splitting up into your small groups again and competing in a variety of teambuilding challenges around the hut area. This will allow you and your fellow participants to bond further while having fun and testing your skills.
As the sun sets over the mountains this evening you will need to make sure you have enough wood to keep the cabin warm as your group prepares dinner and plays games around the fire.
Overnight: Snow Farm NZ Backcountry Hut, CardronaAs the sun rises over a crisp winter wonderland this morning, enjoy breakfast before packing up and heading back to the Snow Farm base along the cross-country trails. Enjoy lunch in the snow, before jumping in the vehicles and returning to Queenstown.
Spend time this afternoon having a relaxed exploration of town, soaking up the atmosphere, sitting by the lake or taking time to buy some souvenirs and mementos. Settle back into your accommodation before enjoying dinner together as a group tonight.
Overnight: Bunk rooms, QueenstownThis morning on the New Zealand student trip, you’ll take a short walk to a wildlife sanctuary to participate in conservation work with one of our local partners. Depending on the needs of the sanctuary at the time, you may see yourself taking part in mulching, weed removal or infrastructure projects. At the end of your hard work, take time to explore the sanctuary, home to over 100 native birds and reptiles, including the iconic kiwi!
In the afternoon, your group will collect mountain bikes in town and head off with your Infuse Program Leaders to ride the Queenstown Trail around Lake Wakatipu. Soak up Queenstown’s beautiful scenery, stretching your legs and see new iconic landscapes such as the Shotover River.
Overnight: Bunk rooms, QueenstownSpend the next 2 days on this student trip to New Zealand skiing at Coronet Peak! Each day will begin with a downhill ski or snowboard lesson with NZSIA-qualified instructors. After your lesson, you’ll have the rest of the day to explore the resort. You can ride the chair lifts, carve up the slopes on trails of all different abilities and maybe even venture up to the Summit View Point which sits at a huge 1,649 metres up!
After an adrenaline-packed day on the slopes on the student tour abroad, you’ll be ready for a hearty dinner and a good night’s rest. On your final night, head into Queenstown as a group to have a celebratory final dinner together on this New Zealand student trip.
