Reflecting on an Impactful 2024

Reflecting on an Impactful 2024

January 23, 2025 – Words by Ebony Holmberg

What a year! As we reflect on the incredible journey that was 2024 and dive into planning for the year ahead, we cannot help but feel immense gratitude for the amazing experiences, meaningful connections, and lasting impact we were able to create last year.

It was a time of transformation — not only for our brand and website, but for the thousands of students who travelled with us and committed their time to making a difference, the schools and communities we partnered with, and everyone involved in the Infuse family. From the dedication of our staff to the unwavering support from our school clients and local partners, 2024 was a year of collective achievement.

A year of impact across the globe

Our mission has always been about more than just exploring the world; it’s about creating real, positive change for people and the planet. In 2024, we saw that come to life in some impactful ways.

8 house builds complete in Cambodia
In Cambodia, our school teams helped build eight safe and sustainable homes for local families in Kampong Cham village and the floating villages of Tonlé Sap Lake. These hands-on service projects allowed students to witness the power of community and collaboration, providing a tangible representation of their efforts at the end of each program. Each new house was blessed by a local monk before the families moved in—a very special ceremony for Infuse school groups to be part of.

600 meals and more in Fiji
In Fiji, our school groups and Duke of Edinburgh’s Award teams worked side-by-side with local communities to build new community paths and composting toilets, improving both health and sanitation. We also prepared approximately 600 meals for vulnerable women and children via our HART House Meal Program. These projects, while impactful, also provided students with valuable insights into the importance of sustainable development and community-driven efforts. Vibrant kava ceremonies and immersive homestays (filled with that typical incredible Fijjian hospitality), were true highlights of our Fiji based programs.

Aboriginal Cultural Immersions for understanding
We were fortunate to be part of some deeply transformative Aboriginal Cultural Immersions in 2024. In Central Australia, the Top End and East Kimberley, we connected with Australia’s First Nations peoples, gaining rich insights into their history, stories and traditions. These experiences allowed us to build lasting relationships with Aboriginal communities and gain a deeper understanding of the land and its people.

Treks through incredible landscapes
Another highlight was guiding students through some of the world’s most stunning landscapes. From hiking the Routeburn Track in New Zealand to exploring the Cape to Cape Track in Western Australia, and even trekking along the Great Wall of China, we experienced the beauty and vastness of our planet firsthand. These journeys sparked moments of wonder, deep learning, and an appreciation for the natural world around us.

Staff and leadership highlights

At the heart of every Infuse experience are the people who make it all happen. We are incredibly proud of our staff and leaders who continue to make these impactful journeys possible.

Alanah Guy, International Operations and Staffing Manager
A highlight of last year has been working with our incredible team of staff from across the world and witnessing their passion and dedication to positively impacting students’ lives. It’s inspiring to see how each individual brings unique perspectives and energy to create meaningful experiences. A special highlight was the opportunity to spend time with our team in Fiji!!

Paris Tuohy, Program Leader
My highlight of 2024 was guiding a group of students on a cultural immersion trip through Central Australia. We deepened our understanding of Indigenous history and culture, all while sleeping under the stars in swags, cooking meals over open fires and swimming in some magical waterholes. It was an unforgettable experience!

2024 was one of the best years of my life. The opportunities that I’ve been given through Infuse to be immersed in new cultures, to make new friends and be a positive role model for our future generations has been epic. I’ve talked a lot to my team mates about what INFUSE means to them, and I really feel like I’m part of a team with a common goal!

Finally, a heartfelt thank you from our Founder and Director, Sam Murray.

“A huge thank you from me to everyone who made 2024 such a success. To all the incredible teachers who give so much of themselves; to the school coordinators who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make every trip possible; to the families who make sacrifices so young people can embark on these life-changing experiences; to our program leaders and staff for their unwavering dedication; to our community partners for welcoming Infuse groups with open arms; and, of course, to our students for choosing adventures with impact — I’m so grateful for each and every one of you.

Together, we’ve made a difference, and I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve achieved. I look forward to seeing you all in 2025 as we continue this incredible journey!” – Sam Murray, Infuse Founder and Director.

Looking forward to 2025

In early January, our entire team came together for a week at Bayview Adventure Camp, one of our Victorian bases. It was a valuable opportunity to collaborate on plans for the year ahead, continue our expert training in risk management processes and reconnect with our core values, mission and goals. It was also an opportunity to enjoy a moment of reflection before diving into the busy school year!

As we move further into the new year, we carry with us the lessons and experiences of 2024. We’re excited for more adventures, deeper connections and continued growth. Big plans are already in motion, and we cannot wait to bring them to life!

Thank you to everyone who made 2024 unforgettable – from our dedicated staff to our adventurous students and the communities we have been honoured to work alongside. We could not have done it without you, and we cannot wait to see you all somewhere in the world in 2025 for more adventures with impact.
