This year’s off to a great start, with lots of exciting momentum building across some key projects. Staying true to our mission of creating meaningful adventures that make a difference, we’ve launched new programs in new destinations, and brought a range of projects to life to ensure we keep growing the impact of our travel experiences.
An early highlight of the year was our Victorian Leader Training Camp, a memorable few days preparing leaders with the skills and confidence to create exceptional experiences. Behind the scenes, we’re preparing to roll out Basecamp – our new online pre-departure learning platform designed to equip travellers with the tools they need to become active global citizens. We’re thrilled to be sharing important destination knowledge and responsible travel tips with our student teams before they hit the road.
More recently, we expanded our program offerings with the launch of our inaugural trip to Japan and the introduction of a new Cambodia Duke of Edinburgh’s Award program. We joined industry leaders from across the region at the OFFSEAS Expo in Bangkok, strengthening networks and insights on how we can continue to develop life changing student travel experiences.
Looking ahead to the next few months, we’re excited to dive into a busy dry season of Aboriginal Cultural Immersions in Central Australia, the Top End and East Kimberley regions, including an exciting Teacher Professional Development experience in Cape York.
We’re on track to reach more than 3000 students in 2025, all which would not be possible without the trust and enthusiasm of our school partners, now stretching across Australia and the Pacific, Asia, North America and beyond. These first few months have shown that when a community shares a vision for meaningful travel, the possibilities are endless. We are excited for everything that lies ahead.
New online learning modules! Get prepped for your journey with Basecamp
Our new pre-departure online learning platform, Basecamp, is nearly ready for launch. A huge thanks to Mentone Grammar for allowing us to pilot the first version of Basecamp with them earlier this year. We are excited to roll out custom designed online learning courses for all our programs in the coming months.
Basecamp features seven interactive learning modules, including videos, quizzes, factsheets, case studies and additional resources all developed by Dr Kearrin Sims, Infuse Director of Impact and critical development scholar with years of experience in international development. Each module focuses on responsible travel, sustainability and global citizenship, with an emphasis on empowering young people to lead positive social and environmental change. This launch marks the start of something big, and we look forward to gathering feedback from our school partners as we continue to grow and strengthen the platform.
Cross cultural connections. Infuse staff explore Momi Bay!
Earlier this month, a group of Infuse Leaders came together for a self-funded trip to Fiji, an experience about connection as much as adventure. From snorkelling crystal-clear waters and visiting remote villages to soaking up the vibrant local culture, the team deepened cross-cultural ties and strengthened bonds between our Australian and Fijian teams.
Exploring Fiji from a participant’s perspective also provided fresh insight into how we can continue to deliver authentic, transformative experiences for students and schools. More than anything, the trip highlighted the unique Infuse culture – one built on community, shared purpose and a genuine passion for what we do.
Building stronger teams through Program Leader Training
Our first Program Leader Training Camp for 2025 took place in January, with two more scheduled for May and August. Designed to give leaders the practical skills, knowledge and confidence to manage domestic and international programs, the training covers everything from duty of care and risk management to group management strategies, emergency response protocols, cross-cultural communication and ethical travel practices.
Leaders participate in scenarios, real-world case studies and practical workshops to prepare them for various environments. The camps also provide a space for leaders to connect, collaborate and build a strong sense of community — a cornerstone of Infuse Travel’s culture.
New Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Programs in Cambodia
We’re excited to add Cambodia as a new international destination for students completing their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Participants will engage in a meaningful housebuilding project during their stay in Kampong Cham, while also gaining insight into Cambodia’s rich and complex history through visits to Phnom Penh and the famous Angkor Wat. Across all our Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programs, we’re now offering a broader range of service opportunities, including environmental, social and infrastructure projects, giving students greater choice and a more diverse experience as they work toward completing their award. Earlier this month, Infuse delegates Chris Tuohy and Kearrin Sims attended OFFSEAS – the Outdoor Forum for South East Asian Schools – in Bangkok. The event, focused on pushing the boundaries of experiential learning and raising industry standards, was full of insights on sustainable travel practices, new adventure-based learning models and how to build resilience, leadership and environmental stewardship through travel.
It was inspiring to connect with a community of changemakers and come away energised with fresh ideas to ensure every Infuse journey is more than just a trip – it’s a catalyst for growth, learning and a more sustainable future. A big thank you to the organisers, speakers and everyone we connected with for an unforgettable few days.
